Energy Consumption

Garfield is on a diet. Let his basal metabolic rate be 6000 kJ per day.

He eats the following on a particular day:

Breakfast	- 60g Oat Bran Flakes with milk (see below) - Two cups of tea
Morning Break	- One cup of coffee - Two biscuits
Lunch	- Two slices of buttered wholemeal bread - 60 g boiled ham - l00g fresh tomatoes - 70g cucumber - 30g lettuce - One fresh eating' apple - One cup of coffee
Dinner	- One glass of wine (125 ml as 125 g) - half a grapefruit (no sugar on top!) - l00g potatoes (french fries) - 130g rump steak (grilled) 50g tomato (fresh) 80g peas (frozen) - One bread roll (60g white bread) - 5g butter - A pot of diet yoghurt - One cup of coffee
Bedtime	- One cup of coffee

During the day he also consumes 300g of whole milk (on cereal and in drinks of tea and coffee).

Garfield does not take sugar in his tea or coffee.

He jogged for 40 minutes, strolled for about two hours and went swimming (gently) for half an hour.
